Alfredo is currently a third-year medical student at the University of Miami’s 4 year MD/MPH program. He grew up in the predominantly Hispanic city of Hialeah, Florida before attending MIT to obtain a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. While at MIT, Alfredo worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and collaborated with peers and administration to improve mental health on campus. Throughout college and medical school, Alfredo returned to his high school to motivate students to think big about their college aspirations and to speak about life in the medical field so far. He graduated a semester early from MIT and returned to his hometown so that he could tutor at Florida International University and work with students in his high school before starting medical school. He is currently an interviewer for MIT applicants in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, and he continues to enjoy speaking with and giving feedback and advice to those applying to universities or medical schools.
